Measure a Bay Window for Curtain Poles
04 You may provide angles or cross diagonals or both. It is not necessary to supply both angles and diagonals, although supplying both does provide
a good cross check and ensures a greater accuracy.
In either scenario it is necessary to supply the “baseline” measurement, which is the measurement across the front of the bay.
Please refer to the drawings shown (Fig. 03) to see which angles or cross diagonals you need to measure.
Measuring Angles
We recommend measuring your angles with a digital angle measurer, these have become more reasonably priced over the years and are widely available. Alternatively, if using a protractor, you may find it easier to measure the bay angles using two business cards as illustrated right, then measure the angle created by those.
Take two identically sized business cards and place them in the corner, overlapping the cards to create a representation of the angle. Tape the two cards together firmly. Then place the two cards on a piece of paper and trace the angle created by the cards onto the paper. Measure the angle with a protractor.
Repeat for all required angles.
Measuring Cross Diagonals
We recommend measuring your cross diagonals with a laser measurer. Alternatively, if using a tape measure, we recommend a good quality tape measure that doesn’t stretch and remains rigid over long distances, such as our 1823R Gap Tape.
Using a pencil lightly make a small mark in each corner and measure to these points. Please refer to the line diagrams above to see which diagonals you need to measure. Once all the bay measurements are complete, rub out the pencil marks with the eraser.
05Add all your measurements to the Hallis Made to Measure Arc Bay Order Form, which can then be emailed to our sales team or used as a record to then enter your information into our webshop configurator later. We recommend placing your order via the webshop configurator, as it will take you through the ordering process step by step to ensure no
information is missed.
